TAMISEMI Form five selection 2023 Kigoma, The establishment of the Ministry of Regional Administration and Local Government (TAMISEMI) is enshrined in the Constitution of the United Republic of Tanzania Article 8 (1) 145 and 146 of 1977 and many other amendments thereafter.

In 1982 under the Parliament of the United Republic of Tanzania passed the Local Government Authorities Act No. 7 (Cap 287) and the Urban Authorities Act No. 8 (Cap 288). The two laws empowered the Minister responsible for Regional and Local Government Administration on the establishment of District, Village, Small Town, and Local Government Authorities.

The role of TAMISEMI is to coordinate and supervise regional development management and administration. TAMISEMI coordinates rural and urban development management policy and strategies; coordinates Regional Secretariats activities and builds their capacity in institutional development strategies for integrated socioeconomic development and financial.

The Ministry also coordinates and supervises development planning and sectoral interventions on donor supported programmes at district and other locals levels; issues ministerial guidelines to Regional Secretariats and Local Government Authorities; and strengthen the channel of communication and information flow between the national and subnational levels.

About Kigoma Region. Kigoma Region is one of the regions of mainland Tanzania with fertile land, natural vegetation and attractive climate. The region also has a rare biodiversity that attracts tourists from within and outside the country. There are mountains, valleys, rivers and Lake Tanganyika which ranks second in the world in terms of water depth.

Overall the geography of Kigoma Region makes it a strategic Region for tourism investment, agriculture, industry and trade. In addition, economic activity in the Region has continued to improve due to the Government’s efforts to improve various social services, road infrastructure, railways, electricity and air transport.

According to the 2012 Population and Housing Census, Kigoma Region had a population of about 2,127,930. Of these Women 1,098,936 and Men 1,028,994. This population is growing at an average of 2.4 percent compared to the 2002 Population and Housing Census. Kigoma Region is currently estimated to have a population of 2,297,927.

Kigoma Region has an area of 45,075 square kilometers. Of these, 36,523 square kilometers are land and 8,552 square kilometers is waterlogged. The region borders the countries of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on the West and Burundi on the Northwest. Locally, the Region is bordered by Kagera Regions in the North, Shinyanga in the North-East, Katavi and Rukwa in the South and Tabora in the East. Largely from the North East to the South East the Region is surrounded by Lake Tanganyika.
