Job Function

Manage and optimize deployment and maintenance of terminal equipment, such as cranes, forklifts, and container handlers, to ensure the safe and efficient handling of cargo. This role involves monitoring equipment usage, scheduling maintenance, and coordinating with terminal operations to ensure that the right equipment is available when and where it’s needed. The Equipment Controller also tracks equipment performance, identifies and addresses potential issues, and ensures compliance with safety standards, contributing to the overall efficiency and safety of terminal operations

Job Context

DP World needs to supervise and ensure that all operators operate equipment safely according to the required plan and instructions and as per safety standards to achieve the company’s objectives

Objectives:

  • Ensure that team are aware and complying with all operations activity’s procedures in terminal. Increase Operations Performance
  • Increase Equipment’s Productivity
  • Improvement Handover cycle.
  • Zero Incidents

The job focuses on the following pillars:

  • Knowledge of Terminals Activities
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment.
  • Fully Conversant with safety procedures
  • Verbal Communication with Blue collars, especially operators.
  • Leadership skills in leading a large number of people to achieve DPWS targets

Key Performance Areas:

  • Ascertain the availability of the equipment for the shift by taking in consideration the current emergency, corrective or preventive equipment maintenance.
  • Ensure Planning is made for the required equipment and manpower including outsourced (SUMA) for every shift and monitors operators are logging in their respective equipment/device as per shift roster.
  • Ensure that the planned equipment and manpower are allocated at the start of the shift without delays to their respective point of work according to operational requirements.
  • Constantly monitor the operations in order to maximize the equipment utilization, avoiding equipment idling time on ground.
  • Report temporary break downs of the equipment to the technical and follow up on the upcoming time to reduce delays on Zodiac and Maximo according to the procedures.
  • Reassign equipment in case of break downs or changes in operational plan.
  • Initiate good communication and act as a focal point between the operators / operations and planning.
  • Deal with the operators with a positive and motivating approach to have the maximum productivity during the shift.
  • Communicate deviations from initial planning if any to operations and planning on time.
  • Prepare the requirements/allocations for the next shift within the stipulated deadlines.
  • Align with Engineering technical team on the preventive maintenance schedule according to operational demand.

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor Education Degree in Port and Terminals, Logistics, aeronautic, heavy Manufacture industries or similar.

Experience and Skills Required:

  • Experience in equipment allocation (Forklift, reach stacker, cranes or similar)
  • Work standard adherence
  • Understanding of equipment allocation or roster.
  • Work experience in container terminal operating system or any equipment allocation system.
  • Excellent computer operating skills
  • Decision making and analytical ability
  • Goal and achievement oriented
