Currently, Basecamp has 2 resorts under its name, and 5 more are operational or in development. From sunny Sardinia to the rice fields of Bali, Basecamp now owns 7 resorts worldwide. (Two in Sardinia, Amsterdam, 2 in Tanzania, IJmuiden aan Zee, and Bali).
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
For this role, Basecamp is looking for an entrepreneurial and adventurous resort managing couple or person for a temporary position of 3-6 months. You will be responsible for the operational management of our location on the Tanzanian paradise island, Mafia Island. We are looking for people with experience in and a passion for hospitality. You are (a) hands-on leader(s) who inspires the team by setting a good example. A day at Basecamp is always different! You will have overall responsibility for a resort with 27 rooms.
This includes overseeing the reception, all rooms, indoor and outdoor spaces, housekeeping, and maintenance. You will mainly be on the floor, leading the team. You will come up with innovative ideas and continuously improve all processes. The goal is to make processes as digital and automated as possible. You work in a structured manner and maintain an overview, even when the pressure is high. Together with the local team and the head office in the Netherlands, you will do everything possible to maximize revenue and occupancy rates and deliver excellent guest experiences.
A flexible, positive attitude and experience in hospitality are essential for this role.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
You have at least two years of experience as a supervisor or manager in the hospitality sector and are fluent in English; Swahili is a bonus! You are an ambitious professional with a passion for hospitality and people. With excellent communication and creative skills, you are enthusiastic, driven, welcoming, flexible, and entrepreneurial.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Daily management of the team and the oversight of the 27 rooms
- Visible presence to support the team
- Coaching and development of team members
- Support for duty managers (restaurant, reception, personnel management)
- Establishing structure and improving processes
- Delivering an exceptional guest experience and service
- Communication and collaboration with the Basecamp headquarters
