Empower Education – Volunteer as a Secondary School Teacher with GPE-TSP

The Office of the Prime Minister – Regional Administration and Local Government (OWM–TAMISEMI) has announced 1,500 volunteer teaching positions through the Global Partnership for Education – Teacher Support Programme (GPE–TSP). This initiative aims to strengthen secondary education in Tanzania by addressing teacher shortages in key subject areas.

📘 Available Volunteer Positions

The positions are open for qualified Tanzanians in the following teaching subjects:

  • Physics – 504 positions

  • Chemistry – 246 positions

  • Biology – 332 positions

  • Mathematics – 418 positions

These roles are for secondary schools under local government authorities with the highest need for science, technology, vocational, and business subject teachers.

🧭 General Duties of Volunteer Teachers

As a volunteer teacher under the GPE-TSP program, you will:

  • Prepare lesson plans, schemes of work, and learning materials.

  • Conduct classes, assess student progress, and maintain academic records.

  • Supervise student attendance and participation.

  • Provide guidance and counseling for student development.

  • Safeguard school property and ensure effective classroom management.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the school head.

🎓 Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be Tanzanian citizens, aged 43 years or below, with a National ID (NIDA).

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education or Bachelor’s with Education in the relevant subject area from recognized institutions.

  • Alternatively, possess a Bachelor’s degree (non-education) plus a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) or a Diploma in Education in the respective subject.

  • Be willing to work in schools with high teacher shortages.

  • Not be employed by the government or any institution.

  • Have no record of dismissal or retirement due to disciplinary action.

  • Attach copies of birth certificate, academic and professional certificates, and equivalency number (EQ…) from NECTA for those who studied abroad.
