Muhambili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) started as a Dar Es Salam School of Medicine in 1963. The school was later transformed into a University of Dar es Salaam Medical College which was upgraded in 1991 to a University – University of Health Sciences Advanced (MUCHS).
In 1996, the Medical College was upgraded to the University of Dar es Salaam, with the aim of sponsoring it to later become a full-fledged university, affiliated with Muhmpili Hospital to establish a Muhambeli Medical Center (MMC). ).
Over the years, MUCHS has made great strides in increasing student enrollment and creating many new academic programs. Parliament Act No. 9 of 1991 establishing MUHS in 2005 was repealed by the Universities Act No. 7 of 2005, and later, in 2007, Article 1 of the MUHAS Basic Charter was created; In accordance with the Universities Act No. 7 of 2005.
The goals of the university are to advance knowledge, disseminate and expand technology and learning, provide higher education and research, and, as these goals are aligned, promote the intellectual, aesthetic, social and moral development of students at the University. MUHAS has one campus located in Ilala municipality, in Ubanga along the United Nations Road.
