AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic will miss the opening match of the Champions League in Liverpool due to a hamstring strain.
Ibrahimovic, who turns 40 in October, scored after returning to action for the first time since recovering from an injury in Sunday’s Serie A victory over Lazio.
“After the match he was swollen,” said Italian team coach Stefano Pioli, “he said.
“We expected him to play but he was still in pain so we don’t want to risk [playing him].”
