The Cereals and Other Produce Board (CPB) was established by the Cereals and Other Produce Board No. 19 of 2009 (The Cereals and Other Produce Act No. 19 of 2009). Unlike other crop boards that have the responsibility of managing crops/crops, the Grain Board and the Grain and Mixed Crops Board have been given the responsibility to trade grain and other crops to enable the farmer to find a reliable market and competitive price for his crops.
In addition, the Board has the responsibility of development in the grain and other crops sector in collaboration with various stakeholders. CPB has become an alternative institution established after the death of the National Milling Corporation (NMC) and the former Board for the export of agricultural products (GAPEX). The death of these two institutions that were owned by the Government led the farmer to lack reliable markets.
