Supply Chain Officer at Nutrition International

Nutrition International (NI) is seeking a dedicated Supply Chain Officer to join their team in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. This full-time position focuses on ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of Vitamin A capsules (VAC) across the country, aligning with NI’s strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

•Planning and Coordination: Lead the planning, quantification, forecasting, implementation, and monitoring of VAC supply chain activities to ensure alignment with Vitamin A Supplementation (VAS) program objectives and timelines.

•Logistics Management: Collaborate with Ministry of Health (MoH) teams to develop and maintain detailed, costed logistics plans for the importation, transportation, storage, and distribution of VAC.

•Inventory Oversight: Ensure accurate tracking of inventory levels and distribution to prevent stockouts or wastage.

•Capacity Building: Provide technical support and training to local health authorities and supply chain stakeholders on VAC supply chain best practices.

•Procurement Collaboration: Work with NI’s headquarters procurement teams to ensure timely purchasing and arrival of VAC shipments.

•Compliance and Contingency Planning: Ensure adherence to national standards and regulations related to health commodities distribution and develop contingency plans for potential supply chain disruptions.

•Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain effective communication and collaboration with government agencies, UN agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders to enhance coordination and delivery of VAC in Tanzania.

Qualifications and Experience:

•Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Pharmacy, Public Health (specializing in health commodities), or a related field. A master’s degree is an added advantage.

•Professional Training: Additional training in health commodities management and research methodologies is desirable.

•Work Experience: At least 5 years of experience in health commodities supply chain management, public health, health system strengthening, or a related field in Tanzania or elsewhere.

•Program Implementation: Experience in program/project implementation, supervision, monitoring, and evaluation.

•Health System Knowledge: Good understanding of the Tanzanian health system is desirable.

•Skills: Excellent report writing, data management, interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills. Proficiency in both written and spoken English is required.
