About the Project
The Kijana Kilimo Biashara Project, supported by the World Food Programme (WFP), aims to improve the sorghum and sunflower value chains for smallholder farmers. The project is being implemented in Meatu and Maswa districts (Simiyu region) and will reach 15,000 individuals, including youth and adult farmers.
Position: Gender Officer

Key Responsibilities
Gender Mainstreaming & Implementation
•Develop and implement gender integration strategies for the project.
•Ensure project activities promote gender equity, focusing on women and youth.
•Conduct gender analysis, capacity needs assessments, and training sessions.
•Collaborate with farmers, stakeholders, and government officials to promote gender-inclusive agricultural practices.
•Support women and youth in actively participating in agricultural value chains.
Monitoring & Evaluation
•Develop gender-sensitive indicators for project assessment.
•Collect and analyze gender-disaggregated data to track impact.
•Prepare reports highlighting achievements, challenges, and lessons learned.
Community Engagement & Advocacy
•Promote gender-equitable practices and the engagement of men and boys as change-makers.
•Encourage the adoption of technology and practices that empower women.
•Represent the project in gender-related forums.
Safeguarding Responsibilities
•Ensure a safe environment for project participants, preventing any form of exploitation or harassment.
•Conduct safeguarding training and awareness sessions.
•Implement reporting mechanisms for safeguarding concerns.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
•Bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Agriculture, or a related field.
Skills & Competencies:
•Strong understanding of gender issues in agriculture and rural development.
• Experience in gender training and capacity-building initiatives.
•Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting with a focus on gender-disaggregated data.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
•Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
Experience:
• 3-5 years of experience in gender mainstreaming within agricultural or rural development projects.
