CCBRT is Tanzania’s largest local provider of disability and rehabilitation services in the country. We’re committed to empower people with disabilities and their families, improving their quality of life, and ensuring access to medical and rehabilitative treatment. We prevent lifelong disabilities wherever possible, and are therefore also engaged in extensive maternal and newborn healthcare (MNHC) activities including obstetric fistula repairs. Our Maternity and Newborn Wing serves as a referral centre for high risk and emergency deliveries in the region of Dar es Salaam and the Eastern Zone of Tanzania.

Specialist – Internal Medicine (Physician) at CCBRT Tanzania

Given the expansion of our services, CCBRT is looking for a dedicated Specialist – Internal Medicine (Physician) to join our clinical team.

The role

  • As Specialist in Internal Medicine, you will help adult patients by preventing and treating internal medical conditions and some emergency medical issues..
  • You will take history of illness from patients, conduct routine physical examinations, refill patients’ prescriptions, offer guidance and counsel on preventative care, order a wide range of diagnostic tests and provide patients with diagnosis. You will also complete imaging, radiological and laboratory tests, provide a referral to other specialists and offer a comprehensive care for patients throughout their adult lives including handling chronic diseases like NCDs. Your clinical work will base more in the OPD and IPD running both clinics and ward rounds.
  • You implement the standards of care.
  • You collaborate with colleagues to plan treatment, both medical and nonmedical if need be. You participate in clinical audits and clinical researches pertaining to internal medicine.
  • You will conduct on the job training programmes for junior doctors and nursing staff and support the development and implementation of standard operating procedures owning the technical inputs to the holistic care of patients.
  • As part of your IPD services duties, you will be part of the on-call team and rotate in on-call duties and therefore preparedness to work in weekends and on emergency is an important aspect of the job.

The candidate
 MD with Master’s Degree (MMeD) in Internal Medicine from a recognized institution.
 Registered with the medical council of Tanganyika and in possession of a valid license to practice.
 Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Kiswahili and English.
 Excellent patient management and interpersonal skills.
 Had good problem-solving skills.
 Is computer literate.
 Is proficient in basic computer use.
 Is energetic, pro-active and hands-on.
