Technical Specialist at Chrysos Corporation Dar es Salaam
Do you have a passion for science and technology? Are you obsessed with customer service and resolving technical issues? We have a unique opportunity for the right person to be part of a high growth mining-technology organisation! If this sounds like you, please read on!
The Chrysos commitment and mission
Here at Chrysos, we combine science and software to create technology solutions that are changing the global mining industry; both from a productivity and environmental impact perspective.
Just like atoms and machines, we believe that everyone is different and how individuals come together is what makes us successful. Headquartered in Adelaide and with team members based in Western Australia, Victoria, Africa, UK and North America, Chrysos Corporation’s diverse team of scientists, engineers and industry specialists are coming together to build technologies to provide rapid, accurate and safe ore analysis for the global mining industry.
The company’s flagship technology, PhotonAssay™, steps around centuries-old chemistry-based assay methods to deliver true ‘atom-counting’ analysis for the measurement of gold and other high-value metals. With successful installations around Australia and a strong pipeline of global projects, Chrysos is taking PhotonAssay™ to customers around the world – Chrysos could take you to places that you might not have even imagined yet. There’s opportunity around every corner and the support to help you achieve your goals.
About the role
The Technical Services team is part of the Chrysos Growth Team (GT) which also includes the Sales team and the Marketing team. Our strategic focus is the deployment of PhotonAssayTM to gold mining companies globally. The three key pillars of the Technical Services team are:
• Customer Partnering, Minesite deployment
- o Provide post commissioning support to each mine site installation of PhotonAssay™. We work to achieve foundational confidence in PhotonAssay™ achieved by way of education, training, short and long term QAQC and comparative analytical performance.
- o We work with the customer technical teams to ensure that PhotonAssayTM generates the desired Total Measurement Error for their applications to provide confidence to drive decision making across the mining value chain.
- o We develop innovative applications of PhotonAssay™ by deeply understanding existing mining processes (geology, geometallurgy and metallurgy) and the challenges, problems and opportunities that exist to drive optimisation, enhance the value proposition of PhotonAssay™ and create new value for our clients and for Chrysos.
• Sales Support
- o Provide critical technical and application support to the Sales team across the sales cycle.
- o Manage the completion of Implementation Studies to satisfy clients’ technical due diligence requirements.
- o Protect and enhance the reputation of PhotonAssay™.
- • Subject Matter Experts
- o The team act as Subject Matter Experts, providing technical collateral, training and support to both the Sales team, other Chrysos functional teams and our clients. The key objective is to provide the critical link between Chrysos Technical and Development teams and our mining customers, understanding and interpreting their needs and requirements.
You will be responsible for:
PhotonAssay Sales Support
- Provide training in the technical application of PhotonAssay™.
- Provide technical and applications support to the Sales team through the sales process.
- Prepare Implementation Study proposals after consultation with the Sales team and clients that will satisfy technical due diligence requirements. This requires accurate costing estimates.
- Manage the timely and cost-effective delivery of Implementation studies, coordinating the delivery of materials from clients, laboratory analysis, data aggregation and analysis, and reporting. Maintain the entire workflow on Monday.com platform. Use HubSpot for all client communications.
- Support PhotonAssay™ Sales Managers at industry conferences and trade shows as required.
Minesite deployment and Operational Support
- Deliver education and training programs.
- Analyse, support long term QAQC performance and prepare reports. Support any other long term QAQC process required by the mining company.
- Analyse long term comparative performance of PhotonAssay™ vs traditional laboratory technique and prepare reports.

- Manage onsite calibration program for moisture determination.
- Manage onsite optimisation of copper calibration, working with the Physics development team.
- Interface with Chrysos Maintenance and Physics Operations teams as required to achieve high levels of client satisfaction.
Application Development
- Develop relationships with key site stakeholders across Geology, Geometallurgy and Metallurgy teams to understand their long-term goals and objectives with PhotonAssay™ with a focus on identifying key optimisation strategies and creating economic return across the mining value chain. Examples of this may include:
- new or optimised assay services
- new measurements or metrics especially around coarse or heterogenous gold ore bodies
- optimised grade control programs
- more accurate resource and reserve models
- optimised sampling and measurement programs for the metallurgical processing plant to open up process optimisation opportunities
- Analyse and recommend optimised sample preparation, defining the optimum techno/economic trade-off between sample size, particle size and machine cycles. This may have a positive economic return for Chrysos by increasing effective sample volume.
- From this work we expect a rich body of knowledge to feed into technical marketing collateral.
Subject Matter Experts
- Generate technical marketing content and collateral across the areas of Measurement Performance on CRMs; Measurement Performance on Ore samples; Technical Due Diligence; Application and Process Optimisation; Case studies and other areas; working closely with internal technical teams, and external stakeholders (customers, consultants, industry groups).
- Identify opportunities for joint publications or presentations with existing PhotonAssay™ users, especially major gold producers. Prepare such papers for presentation at key conferences working closely with internal and external stakeholders, and present where necessary.
