2 Job Opportunities at CEFA

CEFA (European Committee for Training and Agriculture), an Italian NGO active in Tanzania since 1975, is seeking qualified Tanzanian candidates for two positions:

1. AGRICUTURAL COORDINATOR (Iringa DC and Kilolo)

Location: Iringa Office

Type of Appointment: Fixed term, one year

Organization Overview

CEFA is an Italian Non-Governmental Organisation established in 1972, operating in 10 countries across Africa, Latin America, and Eastern Europe. The organization focuses on sustainable development by involving local counterparts and promoting active participation of beneficiaries.

Project Summary

The “Kujenga Amani: Building Peace on the Swahili Coast” project, co-funded by the European Union, aims to empower and mobilize young women and men in coastal areas of Kenya, Tanzania, and Mozambique as lead actors in peacebuilding and dialogue processes. In Tanzania, the project will be implemented in the Dar es Salaam, Tanga, and Mtwara regions.

General Objectives and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the Project Field Coordinator will be responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring project activities in the specified regions. This includes providing technical assistance to project staff and partners, ensuring compliance with donor regulations, and maintaining effective relations with all project stakeholders.

Main Duties

Coordination, Planning, and Implementation:

•Support the Project Manager in planning and scheduling all project activities.

•Coordinate and supervise day-to-day field activities implemented by CEFA and partners.

•Organize internal coordination meetings with field staff and partners.

•Assist in ensuring project visibility in line with EU guidelines.

•Submit fund requests for field activities as per financial procedures.

•Ensure availability of all project documents.

•Monitor partner implementation and provide necessary support.

Monitoring and Reporting:

•Support Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) processes.

•Assist in drafting reports for donors and official documentation for local authorities.

Technical Assistance:

•Provide technical assistance and capacity building to project staff on peacebuilding and conflict prevention.

•Facilitate training sessions on capacity strengthening of CSOs and CBOs.

•Prepare modules and learning materials for trainings and sensitization sessions.

•Support identification of new funding opportunities and development of proposals.

Synergies:

•Liaise with local authorities and stakeholders representing CEFA.

•Build strategic networks with actors in the target regions.

•Ensure quality and consistency of all project components with partners.

•Attend relevant conferences and forums.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

Mandatory Requirements:

•At least 4 years of experience in a similar position with local/international organizations.

•Proven experience coordinating consortium partners.

•Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., community development, social sciences, project management, international and human rights law).

•Excellent communication and reporting skills in English and Swahili.

•Proficiency in MS Office and social media management.

•Leadership and networking skills.

•Organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

•Ability to manage and monitor complex budgets.

•Skills in MEAL and result-based project cycle management.

•Adherence to NGO values, including integrity, professionalism, and respect for diversity.

•Tanzanian citizenship.

Desired Requirements:

•Master’s degree in a related field.

•Expertise in peacebuilding, prevention of identity-based violence, human rights, mentoring, capacity strengthening of CSOs/CBOs.

•Previous working experience in the target areas and with the targeted groups.

•Type B driving license.

CEFA is looking for a Field Agent to implement projects addressing malnutrition in the Iringa DC and Kilolo Districts, specifically the projects titled Fighting Malnutrition in Iringa RuralFM189/2021 and Food Education for Communities in Kilolo District- FM144/2022.

  • Job Location: Iringa Office
  • Starting date: 1 st April 2025, 11 months with possibility of extension Salary: according to the experience and level of education of the selected candidate, the maximum basic salary is 1,300,000 TZS/=.

Scope of Work and Objectives

CEFA is seeking a Small-Business Development Expert to develop an effective production and sales strategy to launch income-generating activities (IGAs) within one of the partner centres.

Key Responsibilities

•Conduct a preliminary assessment of the centre’s capacity and production potential.

•Perform a preliminary market survey.
