On 19 Apr 63, the Tanganyika Cabinet under the President of the Republic of Tanganyika and the Father of the Nation Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere, adopted the TANU Youth Coalition Resolution and unanimously decided to establish JKT on 10 Jul 1963. first trained at Mgulani camp in Dar es salaam with a total of 11 youths from 11 different districts.
The first of these young men were secretaries of the youth union who had been sent by TANU to Yugoslavia in 1962, to take up youth leadership training. Some of these young pioneers are Ms. Z. Kiango, Mr. S. Chale, Bw. P. Lwegarulira, Bw. R. Kamba, Bw. H. Ngalason, Mr, J. Ndimugwango, Ms. M. Mhando (Senior Guide), Bw. D. S. Msilu (Master), Mr ES Mwakyambiki, (Senior Master) and Mr AI Msonge (Master), Mr LM Mitande.
