Names Called For interview at Tunduru District Council. Tunduru District is one of the six (6) districts of Ruvuma Region. The district was established in 1905 during the colonial period when the German government built a fort in the Kadewele area near the present Revenue Authority (TRA) building.
Tunduru District covers an area of 18,778 square kilometers. Also, the District has 7 Divisions, 39 Wards, 157 Villages, 1,166 Suburbs and 2 Election Constituencies (North Tunduru and South Tunduru). The District has 53 Honorable Councilors (39 Nominees, 14 Special Seats), and 3 Honorable Members of Parliament (2 Nominees and 1 Special Seats).
According to the results of the Population and Housing Census conducted in August, 2012 the population was 298,279 of whom 143,660 (48.2%) and Women 154,619 (51.8%). In 2016, the District is estimated to have a population of 331,821 of whom 159,815 are Men and 172,006 are Women. The average population growth in Tunduru District is 2.7 percent per annum.
