1. Prepare you job application documents

  • When you are sending cover letters , CV Or Resumes as email attachments, the first step is to save your CV, resume and letter in the right file format in you device(Phone /Computer)
  • Your documents should be sent as either a PDF or a Microsoft Document. If you have word processing software other than Microsoft Word save your resume as a Word (.doc or .docx) document. File, Save As, should be an option in whatever word processing program you use.
  • To save your documents as a PDF, depending on your word processing software you may be able to File, Print to Adobe PDF or File, Save As, and choose the PDF option.
  • If not, there are programs you can use to convert a file to a PDF Example (Combined PDF Program). Saving documents as PDFs helps ensure that no formatting errors will appear if the person opening the documents has a different operating system from your own.
  • Use your name as the file name, so the employer knows whose Cv, resume and cover letter it is, Example amosihajicv.doc and amosihajicoverletter.doc.

2. Get your Email Account

3. Write an Email Cover Letter

  • Once you have saved your resume and cover letter and they are ready to send, the next step is to write an email cover letter to send with your documents.
  • You can either write your cover letter directly in the email message or attach a copy of your cover letter.
  • First, open your email account. Then click on Message at the top left of the screen or click on File, New, Message.
  • You can either type your cover letter directly into the email message, copy and paste from a word processing document or if the company requests an attachment, send your cover letter with the email message.
  • Be brief and to the point. Your email cover letter should not be any longer than two or three short paragraphs.

4. Include a Subject Line

  • The Subject Line is one of the most important parts of the email messages you send to apply for jobs. Make sure your email message includes a Subject Line that explains to the reader who you are and what job you are applying for.
  • Add a Subject to the email message before you start writing it.

    • To add your signature to your email message, click on File, Insert, Signature if you have a signature saved that you use for job searching. If you haven’t created an email signature, type your contact information (name, email address, phone) at the bottom of your message.

    6. Attach a Resume/Cv and Cover Letter

    • Once your email message is ready to send, you will need to attach your resume and cover letter to your message.
    • Click on Insert, Attach File. Microsoft Outlook will display a list of files in the default file folder of your computer. If your files are stored in a different folder, click on the appropriate folder.
    • Click to select the file you want to add to your email message, click on Insert to attach the document to your email message. In Gmail, click the paperclip image to add your documents to the message.

    7. Proofread and Send a Job Application

    • Before you click send, be sure to proofread your email for grammar and spelling. Check to make sure that you have added a subject and your signature to the message.
    • Then send a test message to yourself to be sure all the attachments come through, and your email message is perfect.
    • Finally, send a copy of the message to yourself, as well as to the company, so you have a copy for your records. Add yourself as a Bcc (blind carbon copy) by clicking Bcc and adding your email address.
    • Then click Send, and your cover letter and resume will be on the way to the employer.

    8.Applying for Jobs Online

    • In addition to applying for jobs via email, you will most likely also have to apply for jobs directly online. Many employers, especially large companies, use applicant tracking systems (also known as talent management systems) to track and manage job applications.

EAC Students Essay Writing Competition for Secondary schools 2021

The East African Community Secretariat (EAC) has organised EAC Students Essay Writing Competition for the year 2021. The Competition is intended to promote better understanding and appreciation of issues related to the EAC integration.

The competition is conducted yearly and it is open for Form I up to IV students. The students are required to research and write essays of between 1000 – 1500 words. The 2021 EAC Students Essay Writing Competition will commence at School level on 15th  September, 2021. 

The topic for 2021 Essay Writing Competition is:




English:

Discuss the challenges that the COVID 19 Pandemic has posed to the education sector of the EAC Partner States. Provide recommendations on how these challenges can be addressed.

Kiswahili:

Jadili changamoto ambazo ugonjwa wa virusi vya KORONA (Uviko-19) umesababisha kwa sekta ya elimu katika Nchi Wanachama wa Jumuiya ya Afrika Mashariki. Toa mapendekezo ya jinsi ya kukabili changamoto hizo.

French:

Discutez des défis qu’a posé la pandémie de COVID-19 aux systèmes éducatifs des Pays Partenaires de la Communauté Est Africaine. Formuler les recommandations sur la manière de les relever.

The Heads of Schools will be required to constitute a marking panel which will choose the best essays of the school. The panel should go through the essays (Please do not mark the essays) and choose three best essays to be submitted to Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education,  Science and Technology, P.O. Box 10 40479 DODOMA by  30th September, 2021.

The following are guidelines for the essay competition:




  • The length of the essay should be between 1,000 and 1,500 words;
  • The essay can be written in English, French or Kiswahili;
  • The essay should be in the students’ own hand writing;
  • Students information such as name, sex, class, school address, region Country and title of the essay should be written on the cover page;
  • The essay should be written on white A4 lined/ruled papers (Similar to the draft pads);
  • The essay should be written only on one side of the paper;
  • Students should draw double margin on each paper;
  • The Heads of Schools should certify that the essay is the student’s own work by putting a signature, stamp and Mobile Number;
  • Students are required to discuss at least ten points to the Essay Question given; and
  • Students should show the reference materials they have used in writing the essay.

Film School Africa Bursary (FSA) Programme 2022, FSA college is based in the Cape Town area, a short drive from studios and production companies where (we hope) you will complete internships in your third year with us. We are a Christ-centered institution and expect our students to work out their faith daily. We encourage attendance to chapel services and devotions. South African Society of Music Teachers (SASMT) invites Suitable Applicants to apply for Bursary Programme for 2021/2022 Academic Year.



About SASMT 

The South African Music Teachers Association grew from the small music teachers’ association formed in Cape Town in 1918. The first annual General Assembly meeting, as it was called, was held in October 1922. The main engine of the Society was Harry. Garvin, a renowned teacher and musician all around Johannesburg. Garvin was previously the founder of the South African Musicians’ Union and was the organisation’s president during his lifetime from 1894 to 1907. He was also president of the South African Music Teachers Association from its inception until the end of 1931.

SASMT Bursaries Programme 2022

The South African Society of Music Teachers (SASMT) are inviting existing SASMT members, to apply for bursary funding for the 2022 academic year. Bursaries are available for SASMT members who are in financial need, and are furthering their studies in music.
  • Bursary Application Closing Date: 15 September 2021
SASMT award bursaries every 2 years, and the amount of cover will depend on availability funds of the SASMT.
Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by the end of November 2021. Successful recipients will be required to present a paper at the biennial SASMT National Conference.
Requirements

  • Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):
  • You must be a South African citizen
  • You must be studying towards a music qualification
  • You must be registered to study at a tertiary institution in South Africa
  • You must be an existing paid-up SASMT member, for a minimum of 2 years
  • You must be in financial need

Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your completed application form (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application may be disqualified):

  2. ID document (certified copy: not older than 3 months)
  3. Proof of registration at a tertiary institution (on institutions letterhead)
  4. Full academic record (on institutions letterhead)
  5. Short Curriculum Vitae
  6. Motivational letter to support your application, explaining why you should be awarded the bursary
  7. Recommendation by a SASMT member

Vodacom is committed to addressing ICT skills shortages in South Africa. Scholarship amounts vary and are limited. They take into account the student’s reputation, as well as their financial needs.
