The awards were given in Rabat in Morocco where Sakho was competing for the position against Gabadinho Mhango of Orlando Pirates and Zouhair El Moutaraji of Wydad Athletic Club.
Sakho scored the goal when Simba won 3-1 against ASEC Mimosas in the Africa Confederation Cup Group Stage game at Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, February 13, 2022.
