Majina Ya Vijana Waliochaguliwa Kujiunga na Programu ya BBT, The Ministry of Agriculture today February 23, 2023 in Dodoma has announced the first phase of 812 names of young people selected to join the Building Better Tomorrow: Youth Initiative in Agribusiness (BBT-YIA) program. The government through this program will enable young people to participate in agricultural business through collective farms (block farms).

Previously, the Ministry issued an announcement to the public for young people to submit applications through the website www.bbt.kilimo.go.tzili to join agricultural business training in Atamizi centers. The application window was opened on January 10, 2023 and closed on January 30, 2023. Until the application window was closed, the total number of applications received was 20,227 of which 4,722 were women, equal to 23.34 percent.

The region of Dar es Salaam has led by having the most applicants, about 2,931, equal to 14.49 percent of all applications, and the region with the fewest applicants is Lindi, where a total of 109 applications were received, equal to 0.54 percent. In terms of Council, Dodoma City has led by having the most applicants with about 1,800 equal to 8.89 percent of all applications and the Council with the fewest applicants is Nyasa which has a total of 06 applicants equal to 0.03 percent of all applications.

The Ministry has completed the admission procedures and found 812 young people who will participate in the training for the first phase. Among them there are 282 women equal to 34.73 percent and 530 men equal to 65.27 percent of those elected.

The selected youths will receive training for a period of four months in 15 organized centers and they will be required to report to the centers they will be assigned on March 17, 2023 without fail. Throughout the training, the Government will cover Accommodation, Food and training costs. In addition, young people will be required to pay for their own travel and personal needs. The selected reporting centers will be announced before March 10, 2023.
