Samia Scholarship program 2023/2024. The Government through the Ministry of Education expects to spend Shs. 6 billion to provide higher education scholarships for the year 2023/24 through the Samia Scholarship Program for about 640 sixth form graduates.
Speaking to journalists in Dar es Salaam, Minister of Education, Science and Technology Prof. Adolf Mkenda has emphasized that the funding will cover 100 percent of higher education for undergraduate students who achieved high success in the Form six Examinations in 2023 conducted by the Tanzania Examinations Council (NECTA) in Science specializations and selected to join the Programs of Science, Technology, Medical Education and Mathematics in Universities in the country.
He has explained that Samia Scholarship Applications will be submitted to the Higher Education Student Loans Board online through the https://olas.heslb.go.tz system from Monday, September 25, 2023.
He emphasized that the scholarships will continue to be awarded fairly and transparently, as the criteria are known and will be followed and that the goal is to increase the number of scientists in the country.
“The Samia Scholarship aims to increase the number of scientists in the country who will directly contribute to development,” the Minister emphasized.
He said the number of students who will be funded by the Scholarship in two years will have reached 1276 students.
And Secretary General Ministry of Education, Science and Technology Prof. Carolyne Nombo has said that the funding will comply with the standards and guidelines of the Higher Education Student Loans Board and will cover the areas of tuition fees, food and accommodation allowance, Books and Documents, research, Health Insurance, special needs of faculties, training for actions and auxiliary equipment for students with special needs and that the list of names of students with the qualifications to apply will be available through www.moe.go.tz and www.heslb.go.tz starting from the first week of August, 2023.
Prof. Nombo has emphasized that the Student who will get the SAMIA SCHOLARSHIP will have to comply with the conditions which include reading, understanding and signing the Scholarship Agreement between him and the Ministry of Education.
How to Apply Samia Scholarship 2023/2024
The Higher Education Student Loans Board (HESLB) would like to inform undergraduate students that the ‘Samia Scholarship’ application window is open from September 25 – October
15, 2023.
Relevant students, whose list is available on the website www.hesib.go.tz are advised to read the Scholarship Announcement for the year 2023 /2024 available on the website of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology www.moe.go.tz and www.heslb.go .tz.
After reading the Announcement which is a guide that provides detailed information, criteria and procedure for applying and receiving payment to the beneficiaries, the Scholarship applicant is advised to visit hitsps://olas.heslb.go.tz/olams/pre-applicant/scholarship/samia ili
