Babati District Council is one of the seven councils in Manyara region, Babati District Council was established by dividing Hanang District ‘into two districts of Babati and Hanang’ and was officially prepared in the Official Government Gazette No. 403 of October 1, 1985. It became independent in July 1986 as a District. In September 2004 the Babati District Council was again divided into two Councils to form the Babati District Council and the Babati Town Council
