The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is offering an IT Support – Business Intelligence & Systems Internship, set to take place from August 1, 2024, to January 31, 2025, in New York. This opportunity is designed for individuals passionate about leveraging technology to support UNDP’s global initiatives, focusing on sustainable development and poverty eradication.
Responsibilities
Interns will be involved in a variety of tasks aimed at supporting UNDP Country Offices with technology solutions. Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting online collaboration tools and business process automation solutions using Microsoft Office 365, Oracle Cloud ERP, Salesforce, ServiceNow, and other cloud corporate applications.
- Assisting in the development and enhancement of applications for business processes, including using PowerApps for mobile-enabled data entry, approvals, and reporting.
- Supporting the collection, consolidation, and analysis of data for project tracking and data visualization using tools like Excel, Power BI, and other business intelligence tools.
- Contributing to the improvement of online reports and dashboards for internal and external use.
- Participating in the translation of user requirements into user stories and supporting the development of quality software adhering to international coding standards.
- Researching alternative tools for enhancing internal communications and tracking, such as chatbots in MS Teams and decision-making assistance tools through various Office 365 tools.
- Creatively supporting the development of new projects for innovative collaboration and business process automation systems and tools.
Qualifications
Applicants must meet one of the following academic requirements:
- Enrollment in a postgraduate degree program (master’s or higher).
- Enrollment in the final academic year of a first university degree program (bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
- Recent graduation with a university degree in fields related to IT Technician/Software Developer, Computer Science, Business Management, Artificial Intelligence, and must start the internship within one year of graduation.
- Enrollment in a postgraduate professional traineeship program and undertaking the internship as part of this program.
Experience or knowledge in IT, software development, computer science, business management, and familiarity with Microsoft cloud technologies, Office 365 tools, DevOps, Continuous Integration, data science principles, and business intelligence tools is required. Proficiency in English and knowledge of other UN languages is an advantage.
Location and Duration
The internship will be located at the UNDP office in New York and will last for 6 months, from August 1, 2024, to January 31, 2025.
