The headquarters are located 120 km from the Dodoma Regional headquarters. The Council is located between latitude 6 ° 00 ”and 7 ° 00” south of the equator and longitude 35 ° 45 ”and 35 ° 00” east of the ‘Greenwich’ line.
Mpwapwa District Council borders Kongwa District Council to the north, Chamwino District Council to the west. To the east it borders Kilosa District Council (Morogoro region) and to the south it borders Iringa District Council (Iringa Region). The district has an area of 7,479 square kilometers (18.35%) of the total area of Dodoma Region. This area of 737,900 hectares is used for agricultural, livestock, forestry and residential activities

In addition, for 2016 with a growth rate of 2.1 percent, it is estimated to have a population of 331,500 of whom 162,435 Men, and 169,065 Women living in 72,065 Households.
