The vacancies are available across several cadres, including Resident Magistrate II, Accounts Officer II, Accounts Assistant II, Records Assistant II, Office Secretary II, and Office Assistant.

Available Job Positions

1. Resident Magistrate II – TJS II (3 Posts)

Qualifications:

Applicants must have:

  • Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) or Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education.
  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from a government-recognized university or higher learning institution.
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law School of Tanzania.
  • Computer training qualifications will be an added advantage.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing schedules for preliminary hearings of criminal and civil cases.
  • Hearing preliminary criminal and civil cases.
  • Hearing preliminary matrimonial and probate cases.
  • Preparing and delivering judgments on cases heard.
  • Issuing lawful court orders.
  • Mediating cases.
  • Hearing appeals from Ward Tribunals.
  • Conducting legal research and providing legal advice.
  • Performing other duties assigned by the supervisor.

2. Accounts Officer II – TGS D (3 Posts)

Applicants must have one of the following qualifications:

  • Intermediate Certificate (Module D) issued by NBAA or an equivalent qualification recognized by NBAA.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Arts with specialization in Accounting.
  • Advanced Diploma in Accounting from a government-recognized institution.

Key duties include assisting with income and expenditure reports, revenue statements, bank reconciliations, payroll reports, payment and receipt vouchers, and maintaining deposit registers.

3. Accounts Assistant II – TGS B (9 Posts)

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Accounting from a government-recognized college; or
  • ATEC II Certificate issued by NBAA or an equivalent qualification recognized by NBAA.

Successful applicants will assist with maintaining financial records, recording income and expenditure, maintaining payment documents and preparing financial reports.

4. Records Assistant II – TGS C (97 Posts)

This is the largest category, with 97 vacancies.

Applicants should be Form Four or Form Six graduates holding a Diploma or NTA Level 6 qualification in Records Management or Law from a government-recognized institution. Applicants must also have computer skills.

Duties include:

  • Registering incoming and outgoing correspondence.
  • Distributing files to officers.
  • Receiving and returning files to the registry.
  • Tracking the movement of institutional files.
  • Receiving documents relating to the opening of criminal and civil cases.
  • Preparing summons relating to civil and criminal cases.
  • Preparing weekly case lists.
  • Maintaining files for ongoing cases.

5. Office Secretary II – TGS C (9 Posts)

Applicants should be Form Four or Form Six graduates with a Diploma in Secretarial Studies or NTA Level 6 Certificate in Secretarial Studies.

Applicants must also have passed shorthand in Kiswahili and English at 100 words per minute and be proficient in office computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, Email and Publisher.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Typing letters, reports and ordinary or confidential documents.
  • Receiving and directing visitors.
  • Maintaining records, appointments, meetings and schedules.
  • Retrieving files and documents required for official duties.
  • Receiving and distributing files to relevant departments.
  • Maintaining and returning files and documents.
  • Preparing notes and arrangements for meetings.

6. Office Assistant – TGOS A (84 Posts)

Applicants should be Form Four graduates who have attended a short course in one of the following areas:

  • Office Attendant Course
  • Office Management
  • Messengerial Course
  • Office Clerk

The training must be from a government-recognized institution.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Cleaning offices and surrounding areas.
  • Maintaining gardens and office compounds.
  • Delivering and collecting files and official documents.
  • Distributing office correspondence.
  • Preparing office tea.
  • Collecting and delivering mail to and from the Post Office.
  • Ensuring office equipment is properly stored.
  • Opening and closing office doors and windows.
  • Photocopying letters and publications.
  • Maintaining copies of typed correspondence.
  • Taking care of office equipment and reporting damaged equipment.

General Requirements for All Applicants

The Judiciary Service Commission states that applicants for all cadres must meet several general requirements.

Applicants must:

  • Be Tanzanian citizens.
  • Be aged 18 to 45 years.
  • Have no criminal conviction or history of imprisonment.
  • Attach certified copies of educational and training certificates, a birth certificate, a recent passport-size colour photograph, and other documents required for the relevant position.

These are new employment opportunities, and applicants who are already permanently employed in the Public Service are not eligible to apply.

Successful candidates must also be willing to work at any Judiciary station where there is an available vacancy.

Applicants who studied outside Tanzania must have their certificates verified by TCU or NACTVET. Those who fail to complete the verification will not have their applications processed. Former public servants who were dismissed or terminated from employment are also not eligible to apply.

Applicants are warned against providing false information. Any applicant found to have submitted false information, including information concerning age, education or previous employment, may be removed from employment and face legal action.
