SA Youth and NYDA Vacancies 2021(The National Youth Development Agency NYDA)
The National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) is a South African-based agency established primarily to tackle challenges that the nation’s youth are faced with. The NYDA was established by an Act of parliament, Act no 54 of 2008.
The agency derives its mandate from legislative frameworks such as the NYDA Act (54 of 2008), the National Youth Policy (2009-2014) and the draft Integrated Youth Development Strategy as adopted by the Youth Convention of 2006.
The institution was established to be a single, unitary structure, established to address youth development issues at National, Provincial and Local government level. The existence of the NYDA should be located within the broad context of South Africa’s development dynamics. Like many developing countries, South Africa has a large population of youth, those between the ages 14-35 represent 42% of the total population.
Given the youthful nature of the South African population, much of the socio-economic challenges faced by the nation, including poverty, inequality and joblessness, poor health are largely encountered by the youth. The gravity of challenges South Africa is faced with, require multi-pronged efforts that simultaneously promote the development of sustainable livelihoods, reduce poverty, inequality and prioritize the development of policies which create an enabling environment for youth development.
The NYDA plays a leading role in ensuring that all major stakeholders such as the government, private sector and civil society, prioritize youth development and contribute towards identifying and implementing long-lasting solutions that address youth development challenges. Furthermore, the NYDA designs and implements programmes that are aimed at improving the lives of young people, as well as avail opportunities to youth.
SA Youth Network and NYDA Vacancies
The National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) has partnered with the Presidency (through the Presidential Youth Employment Intervention) to launch SA Youth, a national network offering young South Africans free access to learning and earning opportunities.
The NYDA will be collaborating with Harambee Youth Employment Accelerator, key government departments, the private sector, and civil society to launch SA Youth.
SA Youth allows young people free access to online work-seeker support resources, including:
- hustling resources
- preparation for the world of work
- learner ship, volunteering and further studies resources
- wellness and selfcare support
How to Join the Network
- Joining the network is 100% free. A young person will never be asked to pay money to be part of the network and access any of its features or benefits.
- The mobi-site, https://sayouth.datafree.co is also 100% data free. This means that young people do not need to have data on their phone, laptop or tablet in order to access any of the SA Youth resources.
- They also have access to a toll-free support line (0800 727272) should they need any assistance, support or advice.
- Anyone aged between 15 – 34 years can join the network
- They need to be South African or provide a Refugee ID number to register
- The SA Youth mobi-site is live and available for young people to use immediately.
How to be part of the SA Youth network:
- Visit https://sayouth.datafree.co/p/nyda
- Enter your ID number – if your ID already exists on the system, you may have registered with SA Youth or Harambee or Tshepo 1Million before. Please go back to click on Login and use your ID number and existing password.
- Once you have registered and accepted the T&Cs, please complete all questions. This process will take you about 4 minutes.
- 4. After completing all questions, various opportunities available near you will be displayed. Please click on an opportunity you are interested and and apply.
