TIE: Vitabu Vya Elimu ya Awali Mtaala Mpya. The Pre-Primary Education Curriculum has been developed in accordance with the Education and Training Policy of 2014, 2023 Edition; stakeholders’ opinions collected and analysed between 2021 and 2022; and the findings of a literature review on experiences from other countries. Furthermore, this curriculum takes into account the education vision, which aims to prepare an educated Tanzanian with knowledge, skills, and positive attitudes, who values equality, justice, and lifelong learning in promoting sustainable development at both national and international levels.
In addition, this curriculum takes into consideration the overall objectives of education as well as the objectives of pre-primary education in Tanzania. Based on these considerations, the curriculum establishes standards for the provision of education at the pre-primary level by specifying the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that a child is expected to develop; general competencies; main learning areas; key and specific competencies; and teaching and learning methods.
Furthermore, the curriculum specifies the time allocated for its implementation, the language of learning and instruction, teaching and learning materials, and the methods to be used in assessing the child’s progress based on competency development. The curriculum also outlines the academic and professional qualifications of the teacher, who is the principal implementer of the curriculum at the school level.
