“It would not be nice to hear of people refusing to be counted. “For the time being until August this year it is short, but all the basic work on the census has been completed, the rest is technical work.

“The census is not uncommon in our country, five censuses have been conducted since independence, in 1967, 1978, 1988, 2002, 20212 and now 2022.

“Every living Tanzanian should be accounted for, so that when we plan we know how we plan. The government cannot plan for development without accurate statistics.

“It is a matter of comfort for our country, to fly our census flag at the United Nations Population Commission this year.

“This logo I am launching today should be used by all departments, for institutions that will have TV programs, this logo should be used all over, you can also put on tickets.

“I would like to make it clear that August 23, 2022 is a special day for the population and housing census,” President Samia said.
