Tanzania Passport Application Online

Passport is one of the very sensitive document issued by the government to its citizens so as to allow them to travel outside the country for various purposes. Tanzania government issues various types of passports and other travel documents as provided for by the Tanzania Passports and other Travel documents Cap 42 of 2002 and its Regulations of 2004.

The passport pages for the current electronic passport contains various images and drawings which explicates the country’s history and tourist attractions.

Aina za Passport

• Ordinary Passport

An ordinary passport may be issued to any citizen of the United Republic of Tanzania for the purpose of travelling outside the United Republic of Tanzania. This passport may be used to travel to all countries and is issued with a validity of ten years.Requirements for Ordinary Passport

1. Applicant’s Birth certificate or an Affidavit of birth
2. Birth Certificate or Affidavit of birth of a parent or Certificate of Naturalisation;
3. National ID Card (issued by NIDA)
4. Proof of applicant’s activities or justification of a trip
5. 1 passport size photo
6. Passport fee (150,000 If applied from within the country or 90 USD If applied through Tanzania Embassies abroad

• Service Passport

A service passport may be issued to a citizen of the United Republic who is entitled to such passport as specified by the Tanzania Passports and Travel documents Act of 2002.Requirements for Obtaining Service Passport

1. Applicant’s Birth certificate or an Affidavit of birth
2. Birth Certificate or Affidavit of birth of a parent or Certificate of Naturalisation;
3. National ID Card (issued by NIDA)
4. Proof of applicant’s activities or justification of a trip
5. 1 passport size photo
6. Passport fee (150,000)
7. An introduction letter from UTUMISHI KUU

• Diplomatic Passport

A Diplomatic passport may be issued to a citizen of the United Republic who is entitled to such passport as specified by the Tanzania Passports and Travel documents Act of 2002.Requirements for Obtaining Diplomatic Passport

1. Applicant’s Birth certificate or an Affidavit of birth
2. Birth Certificate or Affidavit of birth of a parent or Certificate of Naturalisation;
3. National ID Card (issued by NIDA)
4. Proof of applicant’s activities or justification of a trip
5. 1 passport size photo
6. Passport fee (150,000)
7. An introduction letter from Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation

• Emergency Travel Document

Emergency travel documents may be issued to a citizen of the United Republic of Tanzania who is travelling on an emergency journey. It may also be issued to a citizen of the United Republic who is stranded abroad and cannot get a passport.

Requirements for Obtaining Emergency Travel Document

1. Applicant’s Birth certificate or an Affidavit of birth
2. Birth Certificate or Affidavit of birth of a parent or Certificate of Naturalisation;
3. National ID Card (issued by NIDA)
4. An introduction letter from Ward Executive Officer OR
5. A fee of 20,000 ( or 20 USD If applicant is outside the country)

NB:

If the applicant is outside the country, he must submit a Police Loss Report

• Certificate of Identity

This document may be issued to a person who is not a citizen of the United Republic of Tanzania and cannot obtain a passport from his country of origin or does not have citizenship of any country for the purpose of travelling outside the United Republic of Tanzania.Requirements for Obtaining Certificate of Identity

1. Police loss report in case the applicant lost his passport and there is no Embassy of his country of origin in Tanzania;
2. A written account detailing circumstances in which the passport was lost;
3. For applicants born in Tanzania, evidence as to such birth must be submitted;
4. 2 passport size photographs.

• Geneva Convention Travel Document

This document may be issued to any refugee granted asylum in the United Republic of TanzaniaRequirements for Obtaining Geneva Convention Travel Document

The application for Geneva Convention Travel Document shall be accompanied by:

1. A letter from the Director of Refugee Department;
2. A copy of Refugee Identity Card and
3. 2 passport size photographs.

• National ID
• Applicant’s recent photo with a light blue background (Light blue Background)
• Form fee Tsh 20,000
• Evidence of Travel or Evidence of Activity performed by the Applicant.

HOW TO FILL PASSPORT APPLICATION FORM

• Click Start to fill out the form, for a New Request
• Click CONTINUE to continue with an unfinished Request
• You will be required to fill in the Reference ID of your Application and the relevant Application Number
• Fill in your correct Information completely
• Save your Application ID for future use.
• Fill in Old Passport Information (if you ever had a passport)
• Fill in the information of the guarantors and the people who you would like to be informed of in case you have any problems
• Attach all required Exhibits (according to instructions)
• Review all your Information and then click agree if it is correct
• Pay for your form after you have been given a Payment Memory Number (Control Number)
• The Request Status Tracking button allows you to track the progress of your Request
