The Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade has been created in accordance with the Authorization Document GN Number 384 of the year 2022. This Ministry carries out its structural duties in accordance with the instructions of the Chief Government Leaders, in line with various national and international programs as specified in the Development Goals United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 2030); Africa Agenda 2063; National Development Vision 2025; CCM Notice for the 2020 General Election; and the Third Five-Year National Development Plan 2021/22-2025/26.
Also, in stimulating the speed of construction of the industrial economy in the country, the Ministry in collaboration with various stakeholders continues to review the Policies, Strategies and Laws of the sector so that they can be in line with the current needs. These policies include the National Investment Promotion Policy (1996); Sustainable Industrial Development Policy (SIDP, 1996 – 2020); Small Industries and Small Business Development Policy (2003); Agricultural Produce Marketing Policy (2003); and National Trade Policy (2003).
The exercise goes hand in hand with revising the Laws and Sectoral Strategies including the Strategy to Develop the Leather and Leather Products Industry; Cotton, Textile to Garment (C2C) Industry Development Strategy; Sunflower Crop Development Strategy; Trade Remedies Act, 2021; Investment Law (1997) and Competition Law (2003).
