Bei ya mafuta ya petrol leo 2024, The Energy and Water Services Regulatory Authority (EWURA), announces the price limit of petroleum products in the country to be used from Wednesday, the date 6 March 2024 at 6:01 pm. For March 2024, retail and wholesale prices in Dar es Salaam, Tanga and Mtwara Regions are as seen in Table No. 1 and 2, respectively.
Retail fuel prices for various cities, districts and regions are as follows as shown in Table No.3. The change in oil prices for the month of March 2024 has been attributed to the increase of refined oil prices in the world market (FOB) by an average of 4.5 percent for petrol and 1.99 percent for diesel fuel and rising costs of oil imports (premiums) for the Port of Dar es Salaam for an average of 15.38 percent for petrol and 40.41 percent for diesel and for Mtwara Port on average of 7.61 percent for gasoline and diesel. Changes in oil prices have also contributed and an increase in the use of EURO in paying for imported fuel.
Retailers of oil products are required to sell oil to the prices shown in Table no. 3. In addition, traders of products
oil in general are required to sell oil at the prices shown in the Table And. 2. Strict legal action will be taken against any trader whoever violates this ORDER.
EWURA would like to remind traders of oil products in general and retail as well as the community to consider the following: –
- The limit prices of petroleum products for the relevant area are available through mobile phones by dialing *152*00# and then following the instructions. This service is free and available through all mobile phone networks here in the country.
- According to the Oil Law of 2015, article number 166, price of petroleum products will continue to be regulated by the market. EWURA will continue to encourage competition by providing limited product price information
of oil.] - Oil companies are free to sell petroleum products at the price of competition unless the prices do not exceed the price limit (Price cap) or be lower of the allowed price (Floor Price) as calculated in accordance with EWURA Rules for Setting Fuel Prices for the Year 2022 announced on 28 January 2022 through Government Gazette no. 57 and amendment of the said Regulation through Government Gazette no. 761A dated 30 October 2023 and Changes to the Joint Fuel Import Regulations of In 2024.
- All fuel stations are required to publish the prices of fuel products in clearly visible posters showing fuel prices, discounts, incentives commercial services provided by the relevant station. Where possible to choose, customers are advised to buy fuel products in stations that sell fuel at a cheaper price to boost competition. It’s a mistake
sell oil without putting up price posters that look good for customers. Severe punishment will be given to the relevant center for not complying with the requirements legal in accordance with the relevant regulations. - Sellers of petroleum products are required to provide sales receipts from Electronic Fiscal Pump Printers (EFPP) and buyers make sure they get those payment receipts showing the name of the facility, date, type of fuel purchased and price per litre. Those receipts they will act as a control for oil buyers in case it emerges Complaints about oil being sold at a price higher than the limit or sale price oil that does not have the required quality level. Those receipts too will help simplify the collection of Government taxes resulting from the sale of petroleum products.
