Government expects to hire 46,000 new employees in the cadre of Education, Health and other cadres before June. The Government through the Office of the President TAMISEMI in collaboration with the Office of the President Management of Public Service and Good Governance expects to hire 46,000 new employees in the cadre of Education (Ajira za walimu 2024), Health and other cadres before the month of June after the President gave the approval on April 16, 2024.

The information was given in parliament in Dodoma by the Minister of State, Office of the President, Public Service Management and Good Governance, George Simbachawene, during a question and answer session at the Office of the President TAMISEMI while answering the question of Special Seats Member of Parliament Bernadeta Mushashu who wanted to know the government’s plan for sending teachers to primary and secondary schools.

“The President has given permission to hire 46,000 employees and in that number, the permission for the employment of teachers is 12,000 and the employment of Health is more than 10,000 and I believe that in collaboration with our colleagues from TAMISEMI we will ensure the shortage of teachers in our areas, we will go to areas with a large shortage and we are thinking of having a new recruitment procedure through our regions and in consideration of the opinions of the members of parliament” George Simbachawene

Originally answering the question, the Deputy Minister of the Office of the President – TAMISEMI who deals with Education Zainab Katimba said in May 2023 the government hired 13,130 teachers and before the end of the financial year 2023/24 the government will hire other employees.
