The Land Transportation Regulatory Authority (LATRA) announces the tariff of decisions of The Board of Directors of the Land Transport Regulatory Authority regarding fares for ordinary class passengers for the Modern Railway Train (SGR) from Dar es Salaam to Makutupora. These fares are after processing requests brought by the Tanzania Railway Corporation (TRC) and tariffs received from TRC and other stakeholders.Towards the start of SGR Dar es Salaam trips   Makutupora, the conditions to be considered before starting to apply these fares are as follows:-

Carrier (TRC) having a transportation license; Have a certificate of safety of railway infrastructure and wagons;

  • (iii) Using the electronic ticketing system;
  • (iv) Integrating the electronic ticketing system with LATRA systems;
  • (v) Calculating payments and handling passenger information, fares paid, electronic tickets issued, Government taxes and legal fees; and,
  • (vi) Having important cadres for technical issues and operation of the SGR train including certified drivers and attendant registered with LATRA.

In addition, these fares are for normal class for adults and children from the age of 4 to 12 where the fares will be paid by the passenger per kilometer. The fare to be paid by an adult and a child over 12 years old is TSH. 69.51 per kilometer, and a child from 4 to 12 years will pay TSH 34.76 per kilometer. In addition, a child under the age of four (4) will not pay the fare, however, their fares and passengers all will be taken care of in the daily passenger fare system.
