Mastercard Foundation Scholarship Program at Cambridge University 2025-2026, The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of Cambridge is pleased to announce that applications for the 2024/2025 academic year are now open.

Mastercard Foundation Scholarship Program at Cambridge University 2025-2026

Launched in 2022, the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of Cambridge is a partnership between the University and the Mastercard Foundation. This collaboration, set to run until 2030, aims to provide over 500 fully funded scholarships to African scholars pursuing their master’s degrees at Cambridge. The program supports a wide range of academic disciplines at the University, with a few exceptions, including the MBA, MCL (Master of Corporate Law), and Master of Finance.

The program at the University of Cambridge is designed to provide talented students from Africa with fully funded opportunities to complete their master’s training, grow in transformative leadership, and contribute to climate resilience and sustainability in Africa and the world at large.

The program offers scholarships which span the full range of across disciplines in Cambridge  except for the following business courses: Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Corporate Law (MCL), Master of Finance (MFin).

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a citizen of an African country.
  • Reside in an African country, unless temporarily abroad for work or study, or hold refugee or displaced status.
  • Apply for a full-time, one-year master’s program at the University of Cambridge.
  • Fulfill the academic requirements for their chosen course.

What the Scholarship Covers

The Mastercard Foundation Scholarship offers:

  • Full tuition fees.
  • A monthly maintenance stipend.
  • A laptop.
  • Additional coverage for visa application fees, the International Health Surcharge, and travel expenses.

Application Process

The Application process commences with an application for admission to the University of Cambridge via the course directory, to be completed by the funding deadline of the course. https://www.postgraduate.study.cam.ac.uk/courses

The application for funding is imbedded in the course application process. 

As part of the application process, prospective scholars will be required to provide a supplementary statement that indicates their personal commitment to contributing to climate-resilient and sustainable futures for Africa.

Important Deadlines

The deadline for submitting applications for funding is the 5th of December 2023 for courses with a 5th of December deadline and 5th of January 2024 for courses with a 5th of January deadline. When making an application, pay close attention to the funding deadline.

Please ensure all submissions are completed through the online platform, as email attachments will not be accepted.
