Matokeo ya darasa la saba 2024 2025. STATEMENT OF THE RESULTS OF THE PRIMARY SCHOOL LEAVING EXAMINATION (PSLE) HELD IN SEPTEMBER, 2024
At its 162nd Meeting held on 28th October, 2024 at the offices of the Tanzania Examinations Council in Dar es Salaam, the Tanzania Examinations Council approved the official announcement of the results of the Primary School Leaving Examination held in September, 2024.
A total of 1,230,774 candidates registered to sit for the Primary School Leaving Examination, comprising 666,597 (54.16%) girls and 564,177 (45.84%) boys. Of the registered candidates, 4,583 were candidates with special needs, equivalent to 0.37 percent. Out of the 1,230,774 registered candidates, 1,204,899 candidates, equivalent to 97.90%, sat the examination, including 656,160 (98.43%) girls and 548,739 (97.26%) boys. In addition, 25,875 (2.10%) candidates did not sit the examination, of whom 15,438 (2.74%) boys and 10,437 (1.57%) girls.

3.1 Overall Passing
A total of 974,229 candidates, equivalent to 80.87% of the candidates with results, passed the Primary Education Leaving Examination 2024. In 2023, the pass percentage was 80.58%. Thus, the overall pass percentage has increased by 0.29%. Out of the 974,229 candidates who passed, 449,057 were boys, equivalent to 81.85 percent, and 525,172 were girls, equivalent to 80.05 percent. In 2023, the pass percentage for girls was 80.58 percent and the pass percentage for boys was 80.59 percent.
Thus, the pass percentage for girls has decreased by 0.53 percent and the pass percentage for boys has increased by 1.26 percent.
The quality of performance of candidates who obtained A and B grades has improved where 431,689 candidates equivalent to 35.83 percent have obtained A and B grades, an increase of 8.65 percent compared to the year 2023. Of the 431,689 candidates who obtained quality performance in A and B grades, Girls are 216,568 (33.01%) with an increase of 9.09 percent and Boys are 215,121 (39.21%) with an increase of 8.28 percent compared to the year
Out of the 18,932 schools with PSLE 2024 results, the majority of schools, 12,838 (67.81%) achieved an average of Grade C (Yellow band) compared to other achievement levels. Schools that achieved an average of Grade A-C are 17,483 or 92.35 percent. In addition, schools that achieved an average of Grades A and B have increased by 7.28 percent compared to 2023. A breakdown of the number of schools in Proficiency Groups is shown in Table 2.

PSLE-2024 EXAMINATION RESULTS
The Tanzania Examinations Council will submit these results to the relevant Authorities for selection of candidates for admission to Secondary Education. Accordingly, the results of the selection of candidates for admission to Form One will be announced by the relevant Authorities immediately after the selection exercise is completed.
