Samia issues employment permits for 4000 teachers

PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has approved the recruitment of 4,000 business teachers to teach secondary school students from Form One to Form Four.

The teachers will follow a new curriculum that is being implemented, aimed at revolutionizing education in the country by strengthening business education for students.

Opening a three-day orientation training for District Quality Control Officers in Dodoma, the Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Adolf Mkenda said the teachers will teach business education starting next year.

“In the education reform, students are required to study business subjects from form one to form four to ensure they get that important business education and that is why President Samia has given “The permission to employ these teachers,” he said.

He added, “Children must start being prepared to be able to decide for themselves what to do after completing Form Four because they will have been taught business techniques that will help them in their lives, even if they fail to continue their studies, they can be self-employed.”

He congratulated the quality controllers who made it through the selection process, saying those who were selected were based on measurable qualities and criteria, they have a degree of master’s degree, they are experienced and have ethics and ability to work well.

He encouraged the 40 quality controllers who failed in the selection that they should apply for further training so that they have a master’s degree and the ministry is ready to accept them and if they graduate they will be considered.

He instructed the selected district quality controllers to go and work hard in overseeing reforms in the education sector because they are the eye of the ministry. He said that is why the president has accepted them and accepted the structure of their presence in all councils in the country.

He also asked them to pay attention to the commission of experts from educational institutions in the country which is working to integrate systems to identify students from pre-primary education to universities so that they know where they studied and the work they do.

He also instructed them to look at basic education which will start in 2027. Mkenda instructed them collaborate with council directors and teachers directly by forming a group to unite them.

Acting Secretary General, Michael John congratulated the 179 quality controllers who attended the three-day orientation seminar and ensured that they are going to oversee Education Policy 2014 version 2023 as well as the implementation of the new curriculum which in the structural improvements of their presence in the councils has been removed from the regional offices.
