The Higher Education Student Loans Board (HESLB) has announced the Phase Three list with 15,261 first-year students scheduled for loans worth TZS 37.9 billion for the 2021/2022 academic year starting this week.
Director of Planning and Credit HESLB Dr. Veronica Nyahende said that the list released on Tuesday (October 26, 2021) makes a total of 60,356 new first-year students with loans worth TZS 157.3 Billion.
Dr. Nyahende added that HESLB has already started sending student loans in all three phases to various colleges and asked students to get detailed information in the accounts they used to apply for a popular loan such as SIPA (Student’s Individual Permanent Account) to prepare to go to college for enrollment.
Regarding the announcement of the Fourth Phase list, Dr. Nyahende said it would be released in the next few days after completing the ongoing application analysis and urged loan applicants to visit their SIPA accounts to get information about their applications.
“This third list includes qualified students including those in need, who have applied correctly and have completed the admission procedures of one college. We are finalizing the analysis of other applications and will provide a list of the fourth phase in the next few days, ”said Dr. Nyahende.
Dr. Nyahende said the government has allocated TZS 570 billion for 160,000 student loans. Among them, 70,000 students will be first-year beneficiaries and more than 90,000 students will continue their studies after passing their annual examinations.
Dr. Nyahende said HESLB has received the money and completed all the formalities for the payment of students and the money for all three phases has started to be sent to colleges.
“The government has given us money and we have started sending it to colleges… our goal is to ensure that the students who are assigned find the money in colleges where they will register and receive money to fulfill their dreams,” said Dr Nyahende.
In addition Dr. Nyahende urged loan applicants to remain calm while the process of arranging loans for qualified students for the next phase continues.
