TCU News 2022. The Tanzania Commission for Universities is a body corporate established on the 1st July 2005, under the Universities Act 2005 (Chapter 346 of the Laws of Tanzania) with mandate to recognise, approve, register and accredit Universities operating in Tanzania, and local or foreign University level programmes being offered by registered higher education institutions. It also coordinates the proper functioning of all university institutions in Tanzania so as to foster a harmonised higher education system in the country.
The Tanzania Commission for Universities succeeded the former Higher Education Accreditation Council (HEAC) which was established in 1995 under the Education Act 1995 with a legal mandate to regulate the establishment and subsequent accreditation of private university institutions in the country. Being limited only to private universities, such mandate was considered unfavorable for the promotion of a viable public-private partnership in higher education as stipulated in the National Higher Education Policy of 1999.
Therefore, such circumstances prompted the government to establish a harmonized higher education system in the country which led into the establishment of the Tanzania Commission for Universities. In order to ensure such a harmonious higher education system does not compromise institutional peculiarities and autonomy, each University has the legal right to operate under its own charter.

TCU First Round Application 2022/2023
The Tanzania Universities Commission would like to inform the public, Institutions of Higher Education and all Higher Education Stakeholders at home and abroad to be following the announcement of the results of the Form Six Examination, Commission has opened the admission application window for Undergraduate applicants starting today on 8/7/2022 instead of the scheduled 15/7/2022. This window will be open until 05/8/2022.

The Commission announces that the Second Phase of the Bachelor’s Degree admission for The academic year 2022/2023 has officially started today on August 24 to 06 September, 2022. The Commission insists that applicants who could not send applications for admission or were not admitted in the first phase due to reasons various people should make good use of this opportunity by sending their applications for admission to colleges as they like.
TCU multiple selected applicants 2022/23 Fist Round
The Tanzania Commission for Universities has the mandate to release the names of successfully selected applicants offered provisional admission into an institution. Selection lists are usually released by institutions after the conduct of admission screening exercise.
