ALL DENOSA bursaries are administered by the DENOSA Study Fund Committee. Bursaries awarded to successful candidates will not automatically be renewed. In other words, if you need further financial assistance, you will have to apply for further bursary every year. Applications will only be considered if they are made on the prescribed application form.

DENOSA Bursary 2023 Closing date

The closing date for applications for 2023 is 31 January 2023 at 16:00. No late applications will be
considered. DENOSA study bursaries do no cover total costs of studies. Applicants must please note that the amounts of the bursaries are small and, should a bursary be awarded to a successful candidate, it will only cover a small portion of the applicant’s expenses.

Denosa bursary requirements 2023

  • Applicants must be fully paid-up:
  • Members of DENOSA for a minimum of TWO years immediately preceding the application for a bursary for 2023
  • Members of DENOSA for the year in which application is made and must remain a paid-up member of DENOSA.
  • Must be registered nurses and/or midwives & students.
  • Those who are on study leave with full pay while undertaking a course are required to mention this when applying for a bursary.
  • Should have undertaken a certain amount of approved post-basic work.
  • Must have completed an application form.
  • Must have been accepted for a University/College/Technikon course for 2023 academic year.
  • Proof of registration with the educational institution must be attached to the application form. (Should such proof not be available by the closing date, arrangements may be made with the Secretary of the DENOSA Study Fund Committee to provide it at a later stage).
  • Application forms MUST be signed in the presence of a Commissioner of Oaths and attested by her/him.
  • Applications for courses taken at a South African University/Technikon will only be considered if the candidate: ” Has successfully passed at least half of the course; and
  • On submission of such proof from the University/Technikon (e.g. a copy of examination results).
  • Where the diploma course exceeds one year’s duration, at least half of the course must have been completed successfully before application for a bursary will be considered. This stipulation does not apply to candidates undertaking a one year course.
  • Candidates following short courses may apply for a bursary if the course is listed with the South African Nursing Council (SANC. If the course is not listed with the SANC, the applicant must support the application with a motivation as to how this course will improve her/his practice as a nurse

Should a candidate wish to change his/her course of study and/or training institution, the prior approval of the DENOSA Study Fund Committee MUST be obtained in order to utilize the awarded bursary for the new course or training institution.

Bursaries for 2023 will be awarded according to merit and need. One page of your motivation needs to be attached to the application form on how you are going to assist DENOSA on completion of your studies.

  • All correspondence regarding bursaries must be addressed to the DENOSA Study Fund Committee.
  • Application forms will, under no circumstances, be faxed to applicants for completion.
