The Higher Education Student Loans Board (HESLB) has announced today (Sunday, October 17, 2021) a list of First Phase with 37,731 first-year students scheduled for loans worth TZS 99.9 billion for the expected 2021/2022 academic year starting next week.

HESLB CEO Mr. Abdul-Razaq Badru said that out of those students (37,731), men are 23,379 equivalent to 62 percent and women are 14,352 equivalent to 38 percent.

Badru added that HESLB has started sending student loans to various colleges and asked students to get detailed information in the accounts they used to apply for a popular loan such as SIPA (Student’s Individual Permanent Account) and prepare to go to college for enrollment.

“The government has given us money and we have started sending it to colleges… our goal is to ensure that the students who are assigned find the money in the colleges where they will register and receive to fulfill their dreams,” said Badru.

TZS 570 Billion has been allocated for higher education loans 2021/2022

According to Badru, the Government has allocated TZS 570 billion for a total of 160,000 student loans. Among them, 70,000 students will be new beneficiaries and more than 90,000 students will be continuing their studies after passing their annual examinations.

Meanwhile, Badru said HESLB has already received funding for student payments and payment procedures have begun so that the funds can be received from colleges from Tuesday, October 19, 2021.

NOTE: In addition, the Board would like to urge loan applicants to remain calm as the credit process for qualified students for the next phase continues.

Higher Education Students’ Loans Board (HESLB) is an organization that gives HESLB loans, bursaries and scholarships for training at public institutes, which are recognized by the Ministry of Education of Tanzania. Thanks to HESLB loans, all Tanzanian citizens can empower their dreams by getting an academic degree and embarking on a successful career.

Not all HESLB Loan applicant  will be allocated for loan,  there some applicant will get and other will not allocated for loan for various reasons. If you will not be succeed to get loan when names released don’t give up because there is a lot of students in Tanzania Universities study without HESLB loan. You can appeal once the HESLB Will announce the appeal process. But also you can involve your parents and other relatives so as they can get prepared to take you to University for their own cost.
HESLB appeal window for those who didn’t not allocated for loan though have all qualifications or criteria. You can take this opportunity to appeal so as you can get allocated for loan.
Loan application Window was opened in July 1 2021 and closed at 15 September 2021, Loan application process go through various step including:-
  • Ensure all Birth certificates for students who were born in foreign countries and Death Certificates for Tanzanian Parents who died in foreign countries are certified by respective Embassies located in the United Republic of Tanzania
