During a media briefing on Monday ( 15 January), the association’s chairperson, Yunus Ballim, said that the results had been given the green light after being administered by the Department of Basic Education and the Independent Examinations Board.

Some of the challenges included:

  • A printing error affected a question worth three marks in the Physical Sciences Paper 2.
  • In the North West, the same paper was also affected by missing grid lines in a question worth six marks.
  • In Limpopo, significant printing errors affected questions (translated in both English and Afrikaans) worth more than 60 marks in civil service, 31 and 14 marks in construction and more than 20 marks in woodworking.
  • Poor translation quality affected two questions worth three marks in the Afrikaans-translated version paper of Geography Paper 1.
  • Cultural and political errors in the Mathematical Literacy Paper 1 and Mandarin Paper 1 were also acknowledged.
  • At least 64 candidates who wrote the isiZulu First Additional Language Paper 2 were not informed that new poems and short stories would be introduced for the examinations, and, therefore, the candidates prepared based on outdated set works.

How to Check matric results 2024

  • (1) You can check your matric results on the Department of Basic Education website.
  • Enter your matric exam number and press search. Only current matric pupils can use this system to check their results.
  • Go to your high school, results should be available from noon.
  • SMS your ID number and exam number to 35658. Both numbers must have 13 digits to be accepted, and there is a once-off cost of R3 to register. Once registration is completed, results will be delivered by SMS when they are released.
  • Use the USSD service by dialling *120*35658#. After answering multiple questions, enter your ID number. You’ll receive your results per subject after you have completed the process. You’ll have the option to opt in or out to comply with the Protection of Personal Information Act. USSD rates apply.

Re-Marking:

    • Begin by accessing the e-Gov portal, the dedicated online platform for educational services.
    • Create a personal account by providing the required details, ensuring the accuracy of your information.
  2. Log In Using Your Credentials:
    • Once registered, log in to the e-Gov portal using your assigned username and password.
    • This login ensures secure access to the portal’s services.
  3. Select “e-Re-Mark/ Re-Check” Service:

    • This service specifically caters to students seeking a re-evaluation of their examination scripts.
