E-Teacher Scholarship Program USA 2024-2025, The E-Teacher Scholarship Program is sponsored by the Office of English Language Programs in the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The University of Oregon’s American English Institute offers nine university-level online E-Teacher courses for non-U.S. citizen English as a Foreign Language (EFL) professionals.

E-Teacher Scholarship Program USA 2024

Scholarships cover tuition and access to course materials. Participants use online tools to participate in discussion boards and complete assignments. All but one of the E-Teacher courses are offered asynchronously (not in real-time).

  • Practical Applications in Listening and Speaking Skills (“PALSS” has real-time instructional components)

  • English for Specific Purposes, Best Practice for Courses and Materials
  • Special Education and Differentiated Instruction in an EFL Context
  • Critical Thinking in Language Learning and Teaching
  • Assessment: Summative and Formative Practices in Language Learning and Teaching

Program Benefits

  • Introduces and explores current methodological concepts and issues in the EFL field
  • Provides an innovative distance-learning experience that uses the latest technology
  • Connects participants with U.S. English language teaching experts and creates a professional network of international colleagues
  • Brings twenty-six participants to the U.S. each year for a professional development exchange. Exchange participants represent all regions of the world and are selected on the basis of outstanding performance in their e-courses

Participant Requirments:

Non-U.S. educators from areas where English is not the majority first language may apply. Candidates should be highly motivated in-service EFL educators, teacher trainers, or ministry officials who are dedicated to their own professional development and willing to share their knowledge with colleagues. In addition, they should:

  • Be able to dedicate time to complete the course (8-10+ hours/week)
  • Possess high-intermediate to advanced English language skills (approximately 525 TOEFL / 70 TOEFL iBT)
  • Have access (4-5 times per week minimum) to a reliable, up-to-date computer with high-speed Internet access
  • Have basic technology skills related to email, Internet searches and downloads/uploads, logins/passwords, and file use (e.g., PDF, MS Word, Excel). PALSS applicants require access to real-time tools such as Skype

How to Apply:

Applications are accepted year round for courses offered in the fall, winter, spring, and summer terms. Candidates must reside in their country of citizenship and apply through the U.S. Embassy in that location. To apply please send your CV and an application letter which indicates your first and second choice course. These should be sent via post, e-mail or dropped off at Embassy gate number three to the attention of:
