TRAVEL DOCUMENTS (HATI YA KUSAFIRIA
The Tanzania Immigration Department offers three types of travel documents which are;
- Emergency Travel Certificate,
- Certificate of Identity and
- Geneva Convention Travel Document.
EMERGENCY TRAVEL DOCUMENT
This document is issued to citizens of the United Republic of Tanzania who have an urgent trip but have not completed the procedures to obtain a normal passport. In addition, a document is also issued to a Tanzanian citizen who wants to travel abroad and cannot get a passport in time. In addition, this document is issued to citizens who have stayed abroad or are being returned to the country from foreign countries.
This document is used only once, that is to go to the respective country and return to the country. Once he returns to the country, the owner will hand over this certificate to the Immigration Officer at the relevant entry point.
This emergency certificate is issued in all regional Immigration Offices and all District Immigration Offices.
CERTIFICATE OF IDENTITY
This document is issued to a person who is not a citizen of the United Republic of Tanzania, who cannot obtain a passport from the country of which he is a citizen or who does not have the citizenship of any country for the purpose of traveling outside the United Republic of Tanzania. This document is issued at the Immigration Office Headquarters and Office in Zanzibar.
GENEVA CONVENTION TRAVEL DOCUMENT.
This document is issued to a refugee granted asylum in the United Republic of Tanzania who needs to travel abroad after meeting the criteria in accordance with the Refugee Law of 1998. This document is issued at the Immigration Office Headquarters and the Central Office in Zanzibar after obtaining confirmation from the Department of Refugees.
